Reception Buddies
Who can be a buddy?
At Ashbourne Primary School we have a team of ‘Buddies’ who help in a variety of ways with our younger children across school. All children in Year 6 are eligible to become buddies.
What does a buddy do?
Our buddies help the children in school at lunchtime in the hall. They help to teach the younger children to cut up their food and they help them to clear their trays when they have finished their lunch. They promote good manners in the hall and also on the playground.
Our buddies help to lead games on the playground for our younger children. They also help them to find their coats and support children to learn to be independent with putting on their coats and zipping them up.
How can I spot a buddy?
Our buddies wear special bibs so everyone knows who they are and they can easily be spotted in the dinner hall or in the playground. These buddies are children who show that they have a caring attitude towards others and can be a good friend to all children in the school.
