Here are some books that we will be sharing this half-term to help lead our learning:
Phonics in Year 1
Children thoroughly enjoy phonics and great progress can be seen rapidly! We have a Phonics session each day in Year 1. Please see below to see the sounds and words that we learn/revisit throughout the year.
Reading and Reading Awards
We have so much fun reading in Year 1! We love reading in school and share stories daily with the children. We also visit our school library once a week.
We aim to instill a love of reading in all children, and encourage children to read at least 5 times a week at home. Just 10 minutes a day will make a real difference to the progress that your child makes. If your child reads at least 5 times a week at home, they will receive a voucher for the Golden Box. Each week, a name is picked out to win a BRAND NEW BOOK to keep! Please record all reading in the reading records, to ensure that we can monitor your child’s reading.
Outdoor Learning
We are lucky enough to have one outdoor learning session each half term. Information will be posted on our ClassDojo page in advance! Our outdoor learning session this half term is TBC.
Key Information
- Drop-off time is from 8:40-8:45am, and pick-up time is at 3:15pm
- PE kits should be kept in school and will be sent home at the end of every half term
- Please send in a healthy, morning snack for your child. Alternatively, children can buy a healthy snack from the school kitchen for 50p
- In Year 1, our weekly spelling test is on a Friday morning
