Annex closure
Mon 14 Nov 2022Like all households, we as a school are concerned about rising energy and food costs. Our energy bills are set to rise by 200% without any additional funding being given to us. There is lots of media speculation about schools having to move to a 3 or 4 day week in order to keep afloat. This is not something we are considering. However, cuts do need to be made and we are starting with closing our annex building. Mrs Walters and Mrs Blake will be moving into the main building next to year 6.

Squid Games
Mon 22 Nov 2021We are increasingly concerned at the number of children in both infants and juniors who have been talking about the games from Squid Game, a popular Netflix show that is highly inappropriate for primary age children due to the high levels of violence portrayed. Please be aware that children are accessing scenes from Squid Games via places such as TikTok, Roblox, You Tube and Minecraft.
It is important that we work together to keep our children safe. Please monitor your child’s online activity as you may be unaware that they are watching this content.
Next week is online safety week in school.

Tag Rugby
Mon 22 Nov 2021Congratulations to the players in the tag rugby team – silver medallists!
The team beat Wirksworth Juniors in a close game 3-2 to steady their nerves in their first game. Osmaston proved a formidable force in the second game handing Ashbourne a 4-0 loss. Mr. Clark soon motivated the players again to sweep Hope aside in the third group game allowing Ashbourne to progress to the semi-finals.
Darley Dale awaited the team and in a very close game, it looked quite tense as each side matched each others scores. Team Captain Elsie rallied her troops and Sam and Rhys capitalized on two Darley Dale mistakes to nudge Ashbourne ahead and into the final just before the whistle.
A familiar foe awaited in the final – a well drilled Year 6 team from Osmaston. Ashbourne played out of their skin to improve on their previous 4-0 loss to score two tries to Osmaston’s 5.
