'Creativity' Whole School Topic
Our whole school creativity topic focuses on using our imagination, being inventive, the arts, expressing ourselves and thinking skills.
The Creative Writing Box
As part of our whole school creativity topic, Miss Whysall delivered each class a ‘Creative Writing Box’. The children were asked to use their imagination to create their own story. The children were fantastic at this!
Dance Festival
As part of our Creativity Topic, each class used their imagination to create their very own dance. We had a variety of music and dance routines. The children were amazing!
Reception Class
The children in EYFS were really excited for their daily Creativity Challenge. They were set a different challenge each day to use their imagination and be as creative as they could. The winners each day could wear the Creativity Crown. The challenges were set in all areas of provision both inside and outside, including construction, story telling, drawing, painting, acting and many more!
During our whole school Art Week, the children in EYFS produced their artwork inspired by the artist Piet Mondrian and also our favourite elephant, Elmer! The children explored the work of Piet Mondrian and thought about how they could incorporate this into their own work.
Year 1 and 2
The children in Year 1 and 2 enjoyed learning facts about sea creatures and presenting their findings in creative ways. The children carefully used their imagination to think of different ways to present their facts.
During our whole school Art Week, the children in Year 1 and 2 explored the artwork of Edvard Munch and Vincent Van Gough. They created their own versions of ‘The Scream’ and also stained glass windows using pastels. The children worked collaboratively to create an art canvas inspired by both Munch and Van Gough.
Year 3
During our whole school Art Week, Year 3 were inspired by Henri Rousseau’s artwork. They collaborated to produce their own class canvas, inspired by Tiger in a Tropical Storm.
Year 4
The children in Year 4 were inspired by cubism during their Art Week. The children created some brilliant sketches of Mr Clark, in the cubist style!
Year 5
The children in Year 5 were set a creativity photography homework with the focus ‘Amazing Ashbourne’. The children produced some fantastic, creative photos!
During out Art Week, Year 5 focussed on David Hockney’s abstract landscapes and then looked at Hokussai’s The Wave. They created a collaborative piece of art on canvas, inspired by the artists and skills they had studied.
Year 6
Our Year 6 children showcased some of their creativity skills through their maths lessons. They created some fantastic tessellation patterns and pictures!
The Year 6 children created a William Morris inspired art installation piece. They used the technique of printing to create a tablecloth, chair covers and wallpaper!
