'Aspirations' Whole School Topic
Our whole school aspirations topic focuses on inspirational people, our own aspirations and future careers.
All pupils had the opportunity to take part in the Ashbourne Primary Aspirations Award.
EYFS
Our Reception Class have had lots of visitors including police, nurse and Lollipop Lady! The have broadened their experiences with a visit to Peak Wildlife Park and experiencing the Star Dome. They enjoyed taking part in the Olympian Sports event!
Year 1 and 2
Year 1 and 2 have enjoyed learning about the job of an Electrician and Police Officer. They have loved their aspirations booklet and taking part in clubs!
Year 3
‘Dreams, hopes, goals’
The pupils in year 3 loved the visit from Joe Roebuck (GB Internal swimmer)! The careers talk from the nurse and florist has inspired them.
Year 4
Year 4 have really enjoyed learning new skills and completing their aspirations booklet. They were engaged in all the careers talks – florist, nurse, police, Olympian swimmer.
Year 5 and 6
The children particularly enjoyed this term and the range of experiences on offer. Year 5 explained that aspirations was about not giving up, trying your best and inspiring others. They enjoyed the enterprise activity which encouraged them to start their own business and expanding their experiences. They liked the phlebotomist visit as it was about helping other people and the nurse saving people’s lives the importance of skills like CPR. Children in year 6 enjoyed the different careers they heard about during the talks – electrician, policeman, Olympian, artist, phlebotomist, cardiac nurse.
