Ashbourne Primary School

Welcome

Welcome to Ashbourne Primary School

At Ashbourne Primary School, we believe education should shape both what children learn and who they become.

We are proud to be a school where children feel safe, valued and inspired to succeed. Our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that all pupils develop the knowledge, skills and personal qualities needed to succeed in school and beyond.

‘Excellent Effort Always Matters’

At Ashbourne Primary, we place a high value on effort. We encourage all children to try their best, keep going and not give up, even when learning is challenging.

We teach pupils that improvement comes through practice, perseverance, making mistakes and trying again. By valuing effort, we help children to develop resilience, independence and confidence, enabling them to engage positively with learning.

This belief underpins everything we do – from how we teach, to how we support behaviour, to how we celebrate success.

Our Values: PRAISE

Our PRAISE aims guide how we learn, behave and treat each other every day:

PPride in our work

I try my best and feel proud of what I do.

RRespect for all

I treat everyone kindly and fairly.

A — Act with kindness

I help others and show I care.

I — Independent achievers

I think for myself and try before asking for help.

S — Stay resilient

I keep trying even when things are tricky.

E — Excellent behaviour

I make good choices and set a great example.

These values underpin everything we do and are brought to life through our Golden Threads.

Golden Threads

At the heart of our curriculum are our three Golden Thread priorities:

Language and Literacy

We prioritise language because it unlocks learning. Pupils develop a strong vocabulary, read fluently and learn to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently, enabling them to access the full curriculum.

Resilience and Regulation

We support pupils to manage their emotions, focus their attention and persevere when things are challenging. Through this, children develop confidence, independence and a positive approach to learning.

Belonging and Becoming

We ensure every child feels safe, included and valued. Pupils develop a strong sense of identity, learn to respect others and begin to build aspirations for their future.

Our school is a caring and supportive community where high expectations, strong relationships and a rich curriculum enable every child to thrive. We want our pupils to leave Ashbourne Primary as confident, resilient and aspirational learners, ready for the next stage of their education and beyond.
