Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is funding to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school. The funding is used to narrow the attainment gap between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and those who are not. It also includes Looked After Children and Services Children.

How we use Pupil Premium funding:

Ashbourne Primary School use a tiered approach, targeting spending across different areas, with a particular focus on teaching. We invest in high-quality teaching, for example: training and professional development for all teachers and support staff. We also provide targeted academic support, for example: 1:1 or small group tuition using approaches such as the National Tutoring Programme. Our Child and Family Well-being Leaders provide support for non-academic issues that impact success in school, such as attendance, behaviour or social and emotional difficulties.

Read the Education Endowment Foundation’s (EEF) pupil premium guide for information about the tiered approach to spending.
